Phase-change material (PCM) thermal storage solves the fundamental limitation of solar thermal systems: intermittency. By storing heat in materials that change phase at precisely controlled temperatures, the system releases consistent, controlled heat output — even after sunset or during cloud cover.

This technology is integral to Empereal’s solar desalination and process heat systems. It enables 24/7 operation without battery storage or fossil fuel backup — at a fraction of the cost of equivalent electrical storage.
